According to retired Lieutenant General of the US Armed Forces Mark Hertling, cluster munitions, the transfer of which Washington announced to Ukraine, are useless for the Ukrainian army.
The military man stated this in a comment to the American magazine Newsweek.
Why cluster munitions are useless for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
As Hertling explained, cluster munitions can pose a danger to the Ukrainian Armed Forces themselves, who will have to move through the territory where unexploded elements remain.
In addition, according to the military man, these ammunition will not help the Ukrainian army overcome the main obstacles during the counteroffensive.
They are unable to clear minefields and are ineffective in clearing trenches, – quotes the general.
