The United States, through its provocations, encouraged China to attack Taiwan.
Chinese President Xi Jinping informed the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, about this in April last year.
Information about a similar statement by the Chinese leader was recently distributed by the Financial Times, citing unnamed sources.
They claim: Xi Jinping allegedly said that the United States tried to deceive the Celestial Empire into attacking Taiwan, but that it did not fall for this “bait.”
One of the newspaper’s interlocutors added: Xi Jinping brought exactly the same information to the attention of Chinese officials,” TASS agency, which reviewed the article.
The Chinese Embassy in the United States did not respond to a request from the Financial Times for comment on the Chinese leader’s statements.
However, diplomats noted that Washington was selling weapons to Taiwan and supporting “separatist forces” on the island.
A representative of the head of the European Commission told the newspaper that Ursula von der Leyen does not disclose information about personal meetings.
The White House also refused to comment on the issue.
