The United States of America is introducing a moratorium on anti-satellite weapons testing.

Vice President Kamala Harris announced this at the US Vandenberg Space Force base (California).

These tests are dangerous and we will not perform them, – policy of MIA “Russia Today”.

She added that with this step the White House intends to formulate new rules and establish standards for work in space.

According to the American press, Washington thought about introducing a moratorium after observing the tests of the Russian anti-satellite system.

They took place on November 15, 2021 – then the inactive Tselina-D spacecraft was hit.

Afterwards, the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, said: the resulting fragments do not pose any threat to space activities.

The US and NATO had a different opinion: they said that the debris was dangerous not only for spacecraft, but also for “human lives.”

Washington then announced the postponement of an already planned test of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile.

After some time, the White House announced that they had completely canceled the events, arguing that they wanted to prevent escalation.

However, the media note, the US plans for this year include conducting another test of the Minuteman III.
