US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that ending Western support for Ukraine would lead to victory for Russia.
The minister made this statement on January 31 at a meeting with Deputy Presidents of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis and Margrethe Vestager in Washington.
What Yellen said about supporting Ukraine
According to the press service of the US Treasury, Yellen said that Western support for Ukraine is inextricably linked with its successes on the battlefield.
According to her, the West should help Ukraine through various methods, including economic ones, and the US Congress should act quickly.
Inaction will entail unimaginable consequences not only for Ukraine, but also for our collective security, – warned the head of the US Treasury.
The minister noted that the White House is firmly committed to Congress approving the provision of $11.8 billion to Ukraine in direct budget support. A corresponding request was submitted to Congress in November.
Previously, the EU will supply Ukraine with weapons worth €21 billion in 2024.
