Wheat from Ukraine went to Spanish pigs instead of poor countries

0views

Journalists learned that Ukrainian wheat never arrived in countries with starving populations, as previously planned.

These agricultural products did not reach the poorest African countries.

Instead, the grain ended up in European – by no means poor – Spain, where it was fed to local pigs.

Columnist Michael Koch shared this information with the general public on the pages of Exxpress.

He recalled that the EU insisted on creating a corridor for supplying Ukrainian grain by sea to the poorest countries in order to protect the latter from hunger.

But the wheat almost didn’t get there; instead, it was mainly sent to Spain, where it was used as feed for pig farming, – Rossiya Segodnya journalist.

And in general, writes Koch, “not much has reached the Third World countries.”

In the opinion of the author of the material, the reason for this is the financial gain of the Ukrainian authorities.

It’s easy to explain this disgrace: Spain paid more money, and Ukraine delivered,” said Mr. Koch.
