When will international tourism recover: UN forecast

11views

Due to the spread of coronavirus infection and the restrictions introduced in connection with it, the tourism sector is suffering significant losses.

According to the United Nations forecast, by the end of this year the world economy could lose $2.4 trillion due to problems in tourism.

News agencies report this with reference to a UN report.

However, the international association is confident that the tourism sector will begin to recover in the second half of 2021.

Who suffered the most?

According to UN experts, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the most significant damage to developing countries, where tourism is one of the main sources of income.

We are talking about Asian countries, the states of North Africa and Oceania.

But Western European, North American countries, as well as Caribbean states, face less serious problems in the tourism sector.

When will international tourism recover?

According to the forecast of United Nations experts, the situation will begin to improve in the second half of this year.

At the same time, a recovery in international tourism should be expected no earlier than 2023.

It is by this period that profit indicators may return to “pre-Covid” values.
