With threats of arrest, entry of Venezuelans into Brazil increases | Blogs

The Nicolás Maduro regime’s threats of arrest against opposition activists have affected the border between Brazil and Venezuela.

In September, so far, according to data from the federal government, the daily average entry into Brazil has been 493 Venezuelans.

In the first weeks, after Maduro declared himself the winner, the average number of tickets was 100 to 200 Venezuelans.

This Monday alone (09), for example, 668 Venezuelans crossed the border in Pacaraima (RR).

For members of Brazilian diplomacy, the flight to Spain by Edmundo González, an opposition candidate, may have discouraged critics of the Maduro government from staying in the country.

Furthermore, the Venezuelan regime has carried out arrests of citizens who participate in protests and demonstrations.

Even though the number of entries has increased in recent days, the September flow is still lower than the historical average for entry into Brazil, of 500 Venezuelans per day.

Therefore, the Brazilian government is still not working with police reinforcement on the border between the two countries.
