WP: Tensions are growing between Western countries over support for Ukraine

71views

The American edition of The Washington Post writes that tensions are growing between Western countries due to support for Ukraine.

According to the publication, the European Union is dissatisfied with the increasing calls from the United States to speed up financial support for Ukraine.

What’s the problem

The WP article states that amid the deteriorating state of the Ukrainian economy, tensions are growing between the United States and the European Union due to increased calls from Washington for Brussels to speed up financial support for Ukraine.

It is noted that this week, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen several times called on allies and partners to increase and speed up financial support for Ukraine, and that her calls were joined by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and head of the Ukrainian government Denis Shmygal.

Representative of the European Commission Neuts Werle did not agree with Yellen’s calls, recalling the previous EU support for Ukraine.

According to Werle, the EU will provide assistance to Ukraine in the long term.

For us this is not a race or a beauty contest, – said the EC representative.
