The famous writer and journalist Viktor Shenderovich decided to leave Russia.
The media figure included in the list of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice announced this on January 11 on his page on the social network Facebook.
He cites the lawsuit of businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin as the reason for his decision.
According to Shenderovich, Prigozhin realized that journalists could not be stopped by fines. Therefore, he switched to “blackmail with criminal charges.”
In this regard, the famous Russian decided to “wait it out outside,” which he spoke about in the corresponding publication.
According to him, forced departure from Russia is also a kind of “deprivation of freedom.”
Let us remind you that on December 30, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation added Viktor Shenderovich to the list of foreign agents.
This register, as noted by representatives of the department, includes individuals who regularly distribute materials to an “unspecified circle of persons” while receiving foreign funding.
By the way, last December the court recovered 100,000 rubles (3,440 Belarusian rubles at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus as of January 11, 2022) from Shenderovich in favor of Prigozhin.
The businessman previously filed a claim regarding the “Minority Opinion” program, in which, as noted in the lawsuit, Viktor Shenderovich called Yevgeny Prigozhin a criminal and a murderer.
