WSJ: Republicans introduced a bill to help Israel without mentioning Ukraine

22views

A group of Republican senators introduced a bill that would provide financial assistance to Israel, but not to Ukraine.

This was reported by the American edition of The Wall Street Journal.

Why is it proposed to split funding for Israel and Ukraine?

According to the report, the bill provides for the provision of billions of dollars to Israel.

The drafters of the bill believe that such a document will be able to gain approval from the US House of Representatives, where the number of Republicans opposed to providing funding to Ukraine is growing.

It is noted that Republicans have long been arguing about including assistance to Ukraine and Israel in one package.

As reported, on October 20, US President Joseph Biden sent a request to Congress to provide additional assistance worth $106 billion to Israel, Ukraine and other countries.

According to documents accompanying the request released by the White House, Biden asked Congress to allocate more than $61.4 billion to Ukraine and $14.3 billion to Israel in the 2024 fiscal year.
