In Washington, after the events of June 24, Russia decided to postpone the introduction of sanctions against the Wagner PMC.
At the same time, as the reason for making such a decision, it was said that this was done so that there would be no illusions regarding the acceptance of the position of one of the parties in this situation.
Washington doesn’t want to look like it’s taking one side or another in this, writes MIA, citing a Wall Street Journal publication.
In turn, the publication itself does not disclose its sources.
Wagner and sanctions
It is worth noting that Prigozhin’s PMC was previously sanctioned by Washington. The organization was declared a “transnational criminal organization.”
Mutiny and negotiations
Let us recall that on the night from Friday to Saturday it became known about Yevgeny Prigozhin’s call for rebellion.
According to Russian media, the headquarters of the Southern Military District was captured by Wagner forces.
The FSB opened a criminal case against Prigozhin himself for organizing an armed rebellion.
At the end of the day on Saturday, it became known that during negotiations between the President of Belarus and the founder of the Wagner PMC, agreements were reached.
Prigozhin accepted Alexander Lukashenko’s proposals and stopped the movement of armed persons on Russian territory.
