The Palestinian-Israeli conflict distracts the world community’s attention from Ukraine and prevents it from attracting new allies.

This was reported by the American edition of The Wall Street Journal, citing Western diplomats.

How the situation in the Gaza Strip prevents Ukraine from attracting allies

According to sources, Ukraine’s efforts to hold another meeting aimed at consolidating international support and attracting neutral states to its side are fading due to rising tensions in the Middle East.

Kyiv had hoped to hold such a meeting before the end of the year, but now, as Western diplomats point out, this is unlikely.

The WSJ also writes that the conflict in the Middle East has provoked new disagreements between the West and some leading Arab states, which also affected Ukraine’s hopes of involving them in peace discussions.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict was taking away the focus of attention.

Bloomberg reported that participants in a meeting to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, held in late October in Malta, often turned their attention to the Middle East crisis. According to the agency, negotiations on Ukraine were interspersed with discussions about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
