Today, July 28, Ukraine celebrates Statehood Day. On this occasion, President Vladimir Zelensky addressed the people.
In his speech, he noted that only Ukraine has the right to claim the heritage of Kievan Rus.
The politician recalled: a sovereign, independent state was born at least 1,500 years ago – “from the time officially recognized by the UN and UNESCO.”
This, according to him, was at the time when Kiy, Shchek, Khoriv and Lebed founded the capital of Ukraine.
She is the only legal heir of Kievan Rus, -Zelensky MIA “Russia Today”.
This is not the first such statement by the president of a former Soviet republic.
