Vladimir Zelensky removed the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova from her post.

By another decree, the president fired the head of the Security Service, Ivan Bakanov.

The Ukrainian leader commented on his personnel decisions in the form of a traditional video message via the Telegram channel.

As for the former head of the SBU, his resignation occurred on the basis of Article 47 of the Disciplinary Charter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Venediktova was suspended in accordance with Part 2 of Article 11 of the Law “On the Legal Regime of Martial Law.”

According to Zelensky, the dismissal of these individuals is due to the identified facts of high treason on the part of some employees of their departments.

In particular, according to the president, 651 criminal proceedings were recorded under articles of treason and collaboration.

These cases involve prosecutors, employees of pre-trial investigation bodies and other structures.

In 198 criminal proceedings, suspicion was declared to the relevant persons,” noted Vladimir Zelensky.

He added: it was established that about 60 employees of the prosecutor’s office and the SBU remained in “the occupied territory and are working against our state.”

Such a number of crimes against the foundations of national security, as well as connections “recorded between employees of the Ukrainian security forces and the Russian special services, pose very serious questions to the relevant leaders,” Zelensky said.

And he promised: each of these questions will receive a proper answer.
