Vladimir Zelensky was overcome by doubts about the possibility of Ukraine ever joining NATO.
The head of state voiced the corresponding thoughts on this matter during a meeting with students, which took place as part of his visit to Nikolaev.
As MIA Rossiya Segodnya said, when asked about strengthening national security, the Ukrainian leader noted that this topic is a priority for the state.
But we don’t know exactly how it will be, because this is life and this is Russia. And no one can tell you for sure. And will we be in NATO? Or we won’t be in NATO, – Zelensky said.
It is worth noting that earlier the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, made it clear that Kyiv’s full membership in the organization is not possible “during the conflict.”
According to available information, at the summit of NATO foreign ministers, many agreed with the voiced opinion that in the current conditions the issue of Ukraine’s accession will not be considered even at the next meeting in the United States.
And the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjártó, said that today Kyiv cannot join the Alliance due to the fact that this could lead to the Third World War.
In addition, the Hungarian minister accused Ukraine of “systematic violations of the rights of national minorities,” which, according to him, is contrary to NATO rules.
