Vladimir Zelensky explained the reluctance of the German authorities to provide assistance to Ukraine in the form of arms supplies by the presence of a psychological barrier.

The former actor shared his point of view in an interview with Reuters, raising the topic of Germany’s Nazi past.

In Germany, there are certain psychological barriers to the supply of weapons to Ukraine related to its Nazi past, MIA quotes the Ukrainian leader as saying.

At the same time, Zelensky noted that arms supplies are vital and he really counts on German Leopard 2 tanks.

Why doesn’t Berlin share tanks?

Bloomberg previously reported that Ukraine’s Western partners had secretly agreed among themselves not to give Kyiv tanks.

Because of this agreement, promises of military assistance from the German Ministry of Defense were realized with the supply of two MARS II MLRS and 50 armored vehicles.

As for the mentioned Leopard 2 tanks, some media reported that at some point they were excluded from the list of weapons supplied to Ukraine.

What exactly Chancellor Scholz is ready to supply to Kyiv to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not disclosed.
