Vladimir Zelensky denied a message from a representative of the Verkhovna Rada that presidential elections may be organized in Ukraine in March 2024.

Let us remind you that recently MP Alexey Goncharenko said that the head of state instructed his office to prepare for the election campaign.

According to Goncharenko, Zelensky has decided to hold elections next year, the event is scheduled for March 31.

The Ukrainian leader responded to this statement and notified his compatriots that now is not the time for presidential elections.

We all understand that now, in wartime, when there are many challenges, it is absolutely irresponsible to somehow frivolously, playfully, throw into society the topic of elections. “I believe that now the elections are untimely,” Zelensky MIA “Russia Today.”

Previously, he said that, according to Ukrainian legislation, holding presidential elections in the country during martial law is prohibited.

However, according to Zelensky, it will still be possible to carry them out provided that the parliament approves the corresponding changes in legislation.

The second and third conditions: the West will have to provide financial resources, and observers will have to work, including “in the trenches.”

Some Ukrainian media wrote that deputies of the Verkhovna Rada had already developed a draft version of the draft law on holding elections in 2024 in front-line areas.
