Zheleznyak: The United States warned Ukraine about corruption scandals

18views

Against the background of the adoption of the law on the temporary US budget, Kyiv received a warning from Washington that there should be no corruption scandals in Ukraine for a month and a half.

Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this on October 1 in his Telegram channel.

How Washington warned Kyiv about corruption

As Zheleznyak said, the United States has one main public complaint against Ukraine – corruption.

According to the deputy, Ukraine was warned that there should be no major corruption scandals for 45 days.

As far as I heard, ours were told right during the visit, – the parliamentarian said.

As reported, yesterday US President Joseph Biden signed a law approved by Congress providing for continued funding of the federal government for 45 days, until November 17.

The allocation of funding for the needs of Ukraine was excluded from the document.

If Congress had not agreed on a new budget, a “shutdown” could have occurred in the United States from October 1 – a suspension of government work.

Budget agreement was hampered by disagreements between the White House and Congress over the items and amounts of funding.

One of the stumbling blocks was the inclusion of funds for Ukraine in the budget bill. Several congressmen promised that they would vote against the bill as long as it included appropriations for Ukraine.
