The five foods that are “forbidden” to cook in the Air Fryer

97views

The Air Fryer has become a favorite habit for many as a cooking method, as it is an appliance that offers easy, quick and healthy cooking.

However, while the Air Fryer is used to prepare most meals, some recipes and ingredients that require precise cooking, low and slow temperatures are not suitable to be cooked by the powerful air fryer.

Steak

The steak reheats well in the air fryer, but it’s not a good place to cook it for the first time. The baskets in the air fryer get hot but the temperature is not hot enough to give the outside of the steak the right heat and sear.

Even the fattest steaks don’t come out as well compared to when cooked in a pan or grill.

Chicken breast

Chicken wings, thighs and any other bone-in pieces are ideal for the air fryer. Boneless chicken breasts, however, do not have much fat and will dry out easily.

You can try it with some egg batter and breadcrumbs, but chicken breasts cooked in the fryer often come out dry or even rubbery.

Spinach and leafy greens

Leafy greens are a big “no-no” when it comes to cooking in the Air Fryer. The hot air will crisp up most leafy greens like spinach and kale much longer than anything you’d want to eat them.

Uncovered broccoli

If you wrap the broccoli in foil, you can use the air fryer to cook it quickly and easily. But leave it uncovered and exposed to the hot air and you’ll end up with sizzling broccoli ends, which will be anything but delicious.

Shellfish

Shellfish, like mussels, need liquid to cook without drying out. They also cook very easily, which can make them rubbery. Avoid air frying when cooking shellfish.
